Shem Creek
South Carolina
Impromptu portrait of Sandy strolling the boardwalk at Shem Creek. Shot with the Canon Zoom EF 28-80mm 1:3.5-5.6 V USM
An all plastic zoom from the late 1980's. This thing only weighs a few oz's which will make you wonder how it can have any real glass in it. But it takes pretty good pics considering it's run of the mill'ness. Somehow it still stands up well against all the new and expensive large and heavy all purpose zooms out today. It has good comparative IQ from wide up to 50mm. Gets progressively softer pushing past 50mm to its 80mm tele limit. Really as an all purpose wide to normal zoom, all the expensive glass has on it is their aperture advantage. However the new glass will run you between $900 and $1400 while this light plastic job will set you back about $80 on ebay.
