Rides & Rails 2017
Just NE of Newnan, GA
A great and worthy event, unfortunately, very lightly attended this year. This post will be Rides only. Hopefully I can get a post together for Rails as well however the shots I took are challenged by low indoor lighting. I'll work on them though and see if I can't get a few out to post because the Baar's standard gauge train collection is one of the larger and better ones around. Around .. as in anywhere around.
It was quite impressive. And great for just walk around viewing, but makes for a tough photo situation as the interior lights are dim and the window light from outdoors is very bright. Like I said, I'll work on them and see if I can get a representative batch out for posting. Arno (Baars) was in the process of writing a book about standard gauge trains at the time of his passing. Hopefully there's enough there that someone can pick it up, complete and publish it. Would be a fitting tribute to a very good man.
The car showing was a small but cozy group. Very nice cars and even better people representing them. Wish more had come to show and attend. But I still had a great time of it.
All images here were shot with the Olympus Zuiko 35-80mm f2.8 ED designed in 1989. I don't have serial number dates on this lens but I imagine my copy was produced in the early to mid 90's.
I'm not going to go through and drop exposure settings for each image but I will let you know that just about all of the car shots were made at f4, ISO 100 between 1/800th and 1/1600th second.
